Unlocatable utility lines, primarily plastic lines have been a major issue for many utility companies for years. Broken tracer wire or no tracer wire often amounts to the same dilemma, can’t be located using traditional locating techniques. Attend this session to learn about a pilot project CenterPoint Energy has entered into with RECONN to find and map these lines. Learn about the methods used and technology utilized to successfully complete each locate request.

This session will share results from a live test performed at Leak City in Athens, AL over the Summer of 2019 in which a Microdrones MD4-1000 drone equipped with a Pergam methane gas sensor was used to pinpoint where gas leaks were occurring and quantify the volume of gas present. There will also be an introduction to professional UAS usage including Rules and Regulations, Safety and Best Practices along with an overview of the Microdrones Platform including capabilities, use cases, and available sensors.
